World War III is already under way?
The battlefields are economic, digital, financial, jurisdictional. Combat in none of those fields requires physical people in helmets on tanks or in submarines. Yes, generals always fight the last war. Russian generals have never been so out of date.
Putin, hopelessly, has stayed in the last century, which is terrible for the entire world and for peace. This is a situation in which one person’s ignorance has unimaginable consequences for all.
It’s a valid question whether this will regress to a twentieth-century scenario of ground and air combat, that is, whether one non-computer-knowledgeable individual will be able to turn the world back—turn the clock back.
Zelensky has quoted Churchill recently (though he does not need to; he is bigger than Churchill now): «We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills.»
We will battle the Russian Federation in the economy, in banking, credit, and monetary policy, in consumer protections, in intellectual property rights, and in other areas. It may appear bizarre, but these are the twenty-first century’s «fields» and «hills.»
Putin, and Russia along with him, did not understand this. And they lost. In Ukraine, he turned the clock back and created war in the physical fields and hills. Ukraine is now the world’s hero who is fighting to ensure that time does not turn back for the entire world.
